2.6.2 For Hyper-V

This subsection provides an example of setting up an instance environment to monitor Hyper-V.

Organization of this subsection
(1) Assumed Hyper-V environment
(2) Setup example

(1) Assumed Hyper-V environment

The explanation in this subsection assumes that the user has the following Hyper-V environment:

Monitored host
  • Virtual environment software: Hyper-V
  • Physical server host name: vm-host
  • Login user name: user01
  • Login password: pass01
  • Domain name: domain01

PFM - Agent host
  • Login user name: vmuser
  • Login password: vmpass
  • Domain name: vmdomain

(2) Setup example

A command execution example for setting up an instance environment follows.

C:\Program Files\Hitachi\jp1pc\tools>jpcconf inst setup -key VM -inst vm-host ...1
 VM_Type [vmware] :hyperv<Enter> ...2

Legend:
<Enter>: Enter key must be pressed.
1 to 13: Number of the corresponding step in the setup procedure.

To set up an instance environment:

  1. Execute the jpcconf inst setup (jpcinssetup) command.
vm-host, which is the host name of the monitored physical server, is specified here.
If the host name of the monitored physical server is specified as the instance name, that host name becomes the default value of VM_Host.
  2. Set up VM_Type.
Enter hyperv and press the Enter key.
  3. Set up VM_Host.
Since the default value (vm-host) will be used, press the Enter key without entering any value. If you specified a character string that is different from the host name of the monitored physical server in Step 1, specify a host name here.
  4. Set up Security.
Because this setting is not used in Hyper-V, press the Enter key without entering any value. The value 0 is always set even if 1 is specified.
  5. Set up Port.
Because this setting is not used in Hyper-V, press the Enter key without entering any value.
  6. Set up UserID.
Enter the monitored host's user01 user name to be used for connection and press the Enter key.
  7. Set up Password.
Enter the monitored host's pass01 password to be used for connection and press the Enter key. The system will ask you to re-enter the password for confirmation purposes. Re-enter pass01 and then press the Enter key.

    Note:
The entered character strings are not displayed on the screen.
  8. Set up Domain.
Enter the monitored host's domain01 domain name to be used for connection and press the Enter key.
  9. Set up HostUserID.
Enter the PFM - Agent host's vmuser user name to be used for connection and press the Enter key.
  10. Set up HostPassword.
Enter the PFM - Agent host's vmpass password to be used for connection and press the Enter key. The system will ask you to re-enter the password for confirmation purposes. Re-enter vmpass and then press the Enter key.

    Note:
The entered character strings are not displayed on the screen.
  11. Set up HostDomain.
Enter the PFM - Agent host's vmdomain domain name and press the Enter key.
  12. Set up Log_Size.
Since the default value (16 megabytes) will be used, press the Enter key without entering any value.
  13. Set up Store Version.
Since the default value (Store version 2.0) will be used, press the Enter key without entering any value.
