For Linux(R) (x86) Systems HA Monitor Cluster Software

7.8.1 Performing a planned hot standby operation

Hot standby that is performed at any time regardless of whether a failure has occurred is called planned hot standby. The planned hot standby method depends on whether the servers are running in the server mode or the monitor mode and on whether the servers are grouped.

Organization of this subsection

(1) For servers in the server mode

To perform planned hot-standby switchover, execute the server hot-standby switchover command (monswap command) in the active system. HA Monitor performs planned termination on the server in the active system and inherits job processing to the server in the standby system.

(2) For servers in the monitor mode

To perform planned hot-standby switchover, execute the server hot-standby switchover command (monswap command) in the active system.

To perform planned hot standby when no server termination command has been created:

  1. Perform a planned termination on the active server running in the active system.

Execute the planned termination command provided by the program.

  2. Perform planned hot standby in the active system.

Execute the server hot-standby switchover command (monswap command).

(3) When servers are grouped

To perform a planned hot-standby switchover in an environment where servers have been grouped, execute the server hot-standby switchover command (monswap command) with the -g option specified in the active system. HA Monitor performs planned termination on all the servers in the group running in the active system and transfers job processing to the servers in the standby system.
