7.5.3 Handling host reset errors

If a host reset fails, the server in the standby system is placed in the hot-standby wait state and the jobs stop. This subsection explains how to handle host reset errors when both of the following conditions apply:

Action

Start the server that is in the hot-standby wait state as the active server.

To do this:

  1. Determine which server is in the hot-standby wait state.

From the standby system, execute the server and host status display command (monshow command) to obtain the server alias name of the server whose server status is ONL??.

  2. From the host where the failure occurred, check that no servers are running.

On the host where the failure occurred, execute the server and host status display command (monshow command) to check that no active server is running on any of the other hosts in the system.

  3. Start the server that is in the wait state as the active server.

From the standby system, execute the wait-state server start command (monact command). Specify for the option the server alias name of the server that is in the hot-standby wait state.

To check after taking action:

  1. Verify that the active server startup processing has been completed.

Execute the server and host status display command (monshow command) and check that the corresponding server's status is ONL.

  2. Check that the server jobs are running normally.
