4.8.8 Processing flow for start retries in the event of a failure during hot standby processing

This subsection explains the processing flow for using the start retry function when a server or host failure has occurred and an attempt to switch over to the standby system has failed. The details of the processing flow depend on whether the servers are used in the server mode or the monitor mode.

Organization of this subsection

(1) Processing flow for start retries in the event of a server failure (server mode)

The following figure shows the processing flow for start retries when a hot standby error has occurred in the server mode.

(2) Processing flow for start retries in the event of a server failure (monitor mode)

The following figure shows the processing flow for start retries when a hot standby error has occurred in the monitor mode.

(3) Processing flow for start retries in the event of a host failure (server mode)

(4) Processing flow for start retries in the event of a host failure (monitor mode)

(5) Processing flow for start retries in the event of a failure on the active server after hot standby processing (monitor mode)

The figure below shows the flow of HA Monitor processing in the event of a failure on the active server after hot standby processing. This example explains hot standby processing in the event of a server failure.

(6) Processing flow when the server cannot be started by start retries

The figure below shows the processing flow when hot standby processing has failed and start retries were attempted, but the server cannot be started within the specified number of start retries.

This example shows hot standby processing for a server failure in the monitor mode. The start retry count is one.
