7.6.3 Analyzing the collected monitoring history

Collected monitoring history is output to a monitoring history file:

/opt/hitachi/HAmon/history/patrol_history

When the size of the monitoring history file exceeds the size specified in the ph_log_size operand in the HA Monitor environment settings, the file is renamed to the following backup file:

/opt/hitachi/HAmon/history/patrol_history_old

When you analyze monitoring history, use the current monitoring history file and its backup files. The current monitoring history file and its backup files are always available for analysis, but make sure that you do not directly edit the files or the directory in which the files are stored.

Organization of this subsection

(1) Output format for a monitoring history file

Each monitoring history item is output as one line in the monitoring history file. The following shows the output format for a monitoring history file item:

year/month/day time;ID;type;server-alias-name-or-host-name;seconds;message

When HA Monitor creates a monitoring history file, it pads the file with spaces to fix the file size. Therefore, blank lines might remain in the file after monitoring history has been added. You can ignore these blank lines during analysis.

(2) Saving the backup files

When the size of the current monitoring history file exceeds a specified value, HA Monitor issues the KAMN740-I message. When this message is issued, save the file as a backup file. You will use the saved backup files when you analyze the monitoring history.
