5.5.5 Examples of hardware configurations (BladeSymphony (Basic mode))
This subsection shows examples of hardware configurations with different hot-standby configurations for BladeSymphony when host reset is performed.
Because BladeSymphony allows multiple hosts in a single chassis, there is no need to provide as many chassis as there are hosts. Examples of the 1-to-1 switchover configuration include one using a single chassis and one using two chassis. The other examples of hardware configurations presented here use two chassis.
For examples of hardware configurations in which BladeSymphony is run in the LPAR mode, see 5.5.6 Examples of hardware configurations (BladeSymphony (LPAR mode)).
- Organization of this subsection
(1) 1-to-1 switchover configuration
The following figure shows an example of a hardware configuration that uses one chassis and a 1-to-1 switchover configuration for two processes in the same chassis.
The following figure shows an example of a hardware configuration that uses two chassis and a 1-to-1 switchover configuration.
(2) 2-to-1 switchover configuration
The following figure shows an example of a hardware configuration that uses a 2-to-1 switchover configuration.
(3) Multi-standby configuration
A hardware configuration using a multi-standby configuration is the same as a hardware configuration using a 2-to-1 switchover configuration. For an example of a hardware configuration using a 2-to-1 switchover configuration, see (2) 2-to-1 switchover configuration.
(4) Cluster hot-standby configuration
The following figure shows an example of a hardware configuration that uses a cluster hot-standby configuration.
(5) VMware ESXi-based virtualization configuration
The following figure shows an example of a hardware configuration that uses a VMware ESXi-based virtualization configuration.
