2.3.1 Conditions under which HA Monitor performs the hot standby operation
Several conditions must be satisfied before HA Monitor can perform the hot standby operation. The status in which these conditions have been satisfied is called the hot-standby enabled state.
- Organization of this subsection
(1) Conditions under which the hot standby operation is performed in the event of a server failure
The following are the conditions under which the hot standby operation is performed in the event of a server failure:
-
Communication with the HA Monitor in the standby system is available via a monitoring path.
-
The standby server corresponding to the active server is on standby.
(2) Conditions under which the hot standby operation is performed in the event of a host failure
The following are the conditions under which the hot standby operation is performed in the event of a host failure:
-
Communication with the HA Monitor in the standby system is available via a monitoring path.
-
The standby server corresponding to the active server is on standby.
-
A reset path is available (applicable when host reset is performed)#.
-
SCSI reservation for shared disk is available (applicable when SCSI reservation for shared disk is used).
-
Communication is available via LAN communications used by business applications (if the function for controlling hot standby based on the availability of LAN communications is used).
- #
-
If the shared disk can be SCSI-reserved, hot-standby switchover can be performed even when a failure has occurred on the reset path. For details, see 2.3.8 Hybrid fencing.
