Description
While HA Monitor and servers are running, you can change the following settings and operations:
- HA Monitor setting:
-
You can change the host failure monitoring time specified in the patrol operand in the HA Monitor environment settings.
- Operation of system disk monitoring:
-
You can temporarily stop or restart the monitoring of the system disk specified in the disk_ptrl operand in the HA Monitor environment settings. When the monitoring of the system disk is restarted, the monitoring definition file for the system disk that currently exists takes effect.
- Setting and releasing the online serverless mode:
-
You can set or release the online serverless mode.
To set the online serverless mode, all servers must be terminated. If setting of the online serverless mode is successful, the KAMN545-I message is output. If the setting fails, the KAMN547-E message is output.
To release the online serverless mode, all servers must be placed in one of the following statuses:
-
The server has terminated.
-
The active server has finished startup or is ready for hot-standby switchover (server status: ONL).
-
The standby server is ready for hot-standby switchover (server status: SBY).
If releasing of the online serverless mode is successful, the KAMN546-I message is output. If the releasing fails, the KAMN548-E message is output.
-
- Changing a server setting:
-
You can change the server failure monitoring time specified in the patrol operand in the server environment definition.
- Operation of server monitoring:
-
You can temporarily stop or restart the monitoring of the monitor-mode server specified in the ptrlcmd_ex or sby_ptrlcmd_ex operand in the server environment definition. You can also temporarily stop or restart the monitoring of the disks for business use on the server specified in the disk_ptrl operand in the server environment definition. When the monitoring of disks for business use on the server is restarted, the monitoring definition file for the disk for business use that currently exists takes effect.
- Changing a monitor-mode program setting:
-
You can change the program slowdown monitoring interval specified in the patrol operand in the monitor-mode program environment definition.

Notes
-
The monchange command does not change the contents of the definition file. When you have used this command to change a setting and then restart HA Monitor, the setting reverts to its initial value. If necessary, change the environment setting and then restart HA Monitor.
-
In the following cases, temporary monitoring stoppage executed by the monchange command is canceled and the monitoring is restarted:
-
When the host or server is restarted
-
When hot-standby switchover is performed
-
-
The following notes apply to changing the HA Monitor setting:
-
Before you execute the command, make sure that all hosts on which the setting is to be changed are connected.
-
You change the host failure monitoring time for all connected hosts when you execute the monchange command on any one of the hosts.
-
Do not execute this command from multiple hosts at the same time.
-
If you have restarted a host after changing its host failure monitoring time or if the monitoring time no longer matches between hosts due to an error such as a communication error, re-execute the monchange command to synchronize the host failure monitoring time between hosts.
-
If you collect host monitoring history, specify a value that is greater than the current value of the host's monitoring history time. If the specified value is smaller than the host's monitoring history time, monitoring history will not be collected.
-
-
The following notes apply to changing the method of monitoring the system disk:
-
The monchange command changes the method of monitoring the system disk on only the host on which the command is executed.
-
After executing the monchange command, to check whether the method of monitoring the system disk has changed, execute monshow -o -m.
-
If use is specified for the notswitch_notify operand in the HA Monitor environment settings, the KAMN540-W message is output each time one hour elapses in the status in which the monitoring is temporarily stopped.
-
-
The following notes apply when setting or releasing the online serverless mode:
-
The monchange command sets or releases the online serverless mode only for the host on which the command is executed.
-
After executing the monchange command, to check whether the online serverless mode was set or released, execute monshow -j.
-
When HA Monitor stops in the online serverless mode, the online serverless mode is released. If necessary, set the online serverless mode again after restarting HA Monitor.
-
If you are using the multi-standby function (use is specified in the multistandby operand), you cannot set the online serverless mode. In this case, the KAMN547-E message is output.
-
-
The following notes apply to changing the server setting:
-
The monchange command changes the server failure monitoring time only for the host on which the command is executed. You must execute the command separately on the host where the standby server is running.
-
If you collect server monitoring history, specify a value that is greater than the current value of the server's monitoring history time. If the specified value is smaller than the server's monitoring history time, monitoring history will not be collected.
-
-
The following notes apply to changing the operation of server monitoring:
-
The monchange command changes the operation of monitoring the server that is running on only the host on which the command is executed.
-
After executing the monchange command, to check whether the operation of server monitoring has changed, execute monshow -o -s.
-
If use is specified for the notswitch_notify operand in the HA Monitor environment settings, the KAMN521-W message is output each time one hour elapses in the status in which the monitoring is temporarily stopped.
-
If the monitoring is temporarily stopped, the monitoring command cannot detect a failure. If necessary, restart the monitoring.
-
Even when the monitoring is temporarily stopped, if hot-standby switchover is possible, you can use one of the following methods to perform hot-standby switchover:
• Hot-standby switchover by using the server hot-standby switchover command (monswap command)
• Grouped-system switchover
• Hot-standby switchover caused by a host failure
-
To prevent hot-standby switchover from occurring when the monitoring is temporarily stopped, terminate the standby server.
-
-
The following notes apply to changing the settings for a monitor-mode program:
-
The monchange command changes the program slowdown monitoring interval only on the host on which the command is executed. You must also execute the command on the host where the standby server runs.
-
In a multi-process configuration where multiple processes run under the same program alias name, this command changes the program slowdown monitoring interval for all the processes.
-
