Syntax symbol

Meaning

[ ]

Square brackets indicate that specification of the enclosed item or items is optional. For example:

monshow [server-alias-name] means that either a server alias name or nothing is to be specified in the monshow command.

{ }

Curly brackets indicate that only one of the enclosed items must be selected for specification. For example:

monodrshw { -s server-alias-name | -g group-name } means that either -s server-alias-name or -g group-name must be specified in the monodrshw command.

|

A vertical bar separates multiple items that are enclosed in curly brackets. For example:

moninfo server-alias-name { -p inherited-server-information | -g } means that either -p inherited-server-information or -g must be specified after server-alias-name in the moninfo command.
