Appendix D.10 Program maintenance facility (upgrade to update version)

When you upgrade to the update level (called upgrading to the update HiRDB version), it is not necessary to terminate HiRDB normally. By using the program maintenance facility, the version is upgraded to the update level while HiRDB is still active.

In the above, update level means a version that has the same version number and revision number as the running HiRDB, such as 07-02-01, and that includes the -mn part (the underlined part in the version number). In versions earlier than 07-02, m is a slash (/), a letter (excluding I, O, and P through T), or a number; n is a letter from A to Z. In versions 07-02 and later, both m and n are numbers. For example, upgrading from 07-02-01 to 07-02-02 can be accomplished without terminating HiRDB normally. This makes it possible to upgrade to the update level without stopping job tasks. For details about the program maintenance facility, see the HiRDB Version 9 Installation and Design Guide.

Note
Depending on the operating status of HiRDB, it might not be possible to execute the pdprgrenew command. For details, see the description of the pdprgrenew command in the manual HiRDB Version 9 Command Reference.
