The actions to be taken depend on the timing of the abnormal termination and the method used to acquire database update logs. The following figure shows the actions to be taken when a utility terminates abnormally during execution of a reorganization with synchronization points set.

When the update log acquisition mode is the log acquisition mode or the pre-update log acquisition mode

• If the utility terminates abnormally during data unloading (point 1 in Figure 20-8 Actions to be taken when a utility terminates abnormally during execution of a reorganization with synchronization points set), re-execute the database reorganization utility.
• If the utility terminates abnormally during data reloading, take the following actions:
  
  • If the utility terminates abnormally at a point between 2 and 5 in Figure 20-8 Actions to be taken when a utility terminates abnormally during execution of a reorganization with synchronization points set, use the database reorganization utility (-k reld) to execute reloading.
  • If the utility terminates abnormally at point 6 in Figure 20-8 Actions to be taken when a utility terminates abnormally during execution of a reorganization with synchronization points set, reloading of table data is finished. Therefore, create an index information file. Use the database reorganization utility (-k ixrc) to re-create the index.
  • If the utility terminates abnormally at point 7 or 8 in Figure 20-8 Actions to be taken when a utility terminates abnormally during execution of a reorganization with synchronization points set, create only the index. Using the created index information file as the input information, use the database reorganization utility to create the index in the batch mode (-k ixmk).
