20.17.8 Deleting the system log files that were added

This section explains how to delete the system log files that were added in order to restart the unit but are no longer needed.

Note
  • Delete these system log files when they become swappable targets. If you delete them when they are not swappable targets, you risk losing some information necessary for operating HiRDB.
  • If operation without unloading system log is used, back up the database and log point information files first, and then delete the system log files.

The procedure follows.

Procedure
  1. Execute the pdstop -u command to terminate the unit normally. If you are using a HiRDB single server configuration, do not specify the -u option.
  2. If HiRDB Datareplicator is being used, terminate it.
For details about how to change the system log files allocated to a server when initializing HiRDB Datareplicator, see Changing the configuration of the source system in the HiRDB Datareplicator Version 8 Description, User's Guide and Operator's Guide.
  3. Execute the pdlogrm command to delete the system log files.
  4. Modify the server definition.
Delete the definition related to the system log files deleted in step 3 (pdlogadfg and pdlogadpf operands) from the server definition.
  5. Execute the pdstart -u command to start the unit normally. If you are using a HiRDB single server configuration, do not specify the -u option.
  6. If you terminated HiRDB Datareplicator in step 2, restart it.
